Watch: Woman Slaps, Bites Wailing Mother in Haryana Over Property Dispute: ‘Will Drink Your Blood’

Haryana Woman Assaults Elderly Mother Over Property Dispute:

The sickening video from Haryana shows a woman physically assaulting her elderly mother while making statements like: “Maza aara hai, khoon piyungi” (This is fun; I will drink your blood). The horrifying attack took place in Hisar, Haryana, spurring public outrage on social media and leading to a police case against the woman.

NDTV reported that Rita started beating, biting, and pulling her mother, Nirmala Devi, in a scathing manner during the altercation inside their house in Modern Saket Colony, Azad Nagar. Supposedly, the attack was triggered by a dispute over property projected between Rita, who had been trying to persuade her mother to transfer any property in her name, and her mother.

In that three-minute-long video, one can see Rita sitting on the bed while her mother is crying, helplessly distressed, with Rita yelling irritably at the elderly lady, who appears to have received a forceful kick on the leg and then a painful bite to her thigh, completely ignoring the cries of pain from the helpless old lady.

As the assault continued, an apparently infuriated Nirmala Devi begged for her life, which only made Rita even angrier: she grabbed her mother’s hair, jerked her head down, and appeared to bite her again. The horrible episode did not stop there: Rita slapped her mother, taunting her with, “Will you live forever?” A male voice can also be heard in the video, although it is unclear who this man is.

At one point, Rita kicked her mother off the bed, brutally beating and hair-pulling her while shouting into the camera, “You are forcing me to do this.” After the video was uploaded online, Rita faced widespread condemnation as the public calls for strict action against her.

Police and Case

With the circulation of the video, the victim’s son and Rita’s brother, Amardeep Singh, lodged a police complaint against her, accusing her of physical harassment of their mother for property transfer and keeping her as a captive in the house.

After receiving this complaint, a case was filed against Rita at the Azad Nagar Police Station under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007.

Inspector Sadhuram, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Azad Nagar Police Station, told NDTV that further investigations are underway.

Allegations by Brother Against Rita

In the complaint, Amardeep Singh explained how the sister’s harassment of their mother had been increasing step by step. She was married two years ago to Sanjay Punia, a resident of a village near Rajgarh. Shortly after that, Rita came back to the maternal home instead of living with her husband.

After she arrived, according to Amardeep, Rita mistreated their mother and later invited her husband to stay with them. He further accused her of selling a family property in Kurukshetra for ₹65 lakh without consultation, keeping the entire amount.

Singh also told that Rita is keeping their mother in the house and not allowing him to enter it. He also informed that she threatened him to file a false case against him if he tried to interfere into matters.

Conclusion

The case caught the eye of many. People started condemning the inhuman treatment meted out to the elderly woman. The administration has taken notice of the matter and is likely to initiate legal proceedings against Rita. In the meantime, the video is making rounds on the internet, keeping the issue alive among wordsmiths and continuing the discussions over elder abuse and exploitation of senior citizens in property disputes.
