At IIFA 2025, fans had the rare opportunity to witness a very warm greeting between Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan, exes of each other. The two actors who were once the talking point in the whole of Bollywood surprised everyone when they hugged during the press conference in Jaipur. Soon, their friendly gesture became the hot news, and their fans couldn’t help but remember their past relationship.
However, Shahid Kapoor played down the moment, saying nothing unusual happened. At the IIFA Digital Awards, he said, speaking about the buzz, “For us, it’s nothing new. Today, we just ran into each other at events. Meeting up at a stage is not something strange. It was very normal for us. If people feel nice about it, that’s good.”
This collection also happened not to be the first time for the former lovebirds to bump into each other at public events. At the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2024, Kareena walked up to Shahid, who was posing with Raj & DK. She looked at him, and after saying hi to them, walked by him without any eye contact to avoid him and continued walking. Shahid, despite all this awkwardness, kept smiling through that moment.
Shahid and Kareena were in a relationship for a long time in the early 2000s. As they dated for some years, the relationship was called off in 2007. During that period, they co-starred in several Bollywood movies, Fida, Chup Chup Ke, 36 China Town, Milenge Milenge, and that’s a cult classic Jab We Met. It was also revealed later by Imtiaz Ali that the breakup occurred towards the end of filming Jab We Met, adding a bitter sweet taste to the legacy of the movie.

After their breakup, Kareena fell in love with Saif Ali Khan. They got married in 2012. They now share two sons, namely Taimur Ali Khan (born in 2016) and Jehangir Ali Khan (Jeh, born in 2021). Shahid, on the other hand, chose an arranged marriage with Mira Rajput in 2015. They are now proud parents to two children, Misha Kapoor in 2016 and Zain Kapoor in 2018.
Certainly going strong with their lives, Shahid and Kareena continue to make headlines whenever they meet. They had really captured people’s imagination when they greeted each other at the IIFA 2025. These two actors have long since embraced and moved on from the past, with utmost dignity.
