A shocking incident involving students of various grades has come to light at one of the most popular English medium schools in Dongar, an area around Pune. In rather chilling terms, a student from Class 7 is said to have offered ₹100 for the rape and murder of a classmate-a fellow student from Class 9. It is believed that such contemptuous design was triggered by the would-be victim’s previous complaint against the Class 7 student regarding signature forgery by the parents on report cards. Disturbing details emerge in a Pune school incident where a Class 7 student allegedly targeted a classmate for rape and murder. A police investigation is ongoing.
Yet much to the astonishment of the Class 9 student, instead of going along with the scheme, he went ahead to reveal the wicked design to the school. It has thrown the sinister plot into the serious glare of concern over students’ safety and how such schools are dealing with such issues.
The victim’s parents claim that the school did not take proper action. They allege that the Class 7 student has been only reprimanded even after repeated complaints to the school authorities but didn’t take action to rectify the gravity of the matter. Such inaction, affronting them by the school, prompted them to complain to the police on November 22.
Lastly, it was the unending pursuit of parents that went into registering the Daund police with the First Information Report (FIR). The FIR names accused the headmaster of the school in Pune along with two teachers of negligence of duty towards maintaining the safety of students and, it appears, not to address the grievances of the parents through redress. Currently, an investigation by police is now in the process and many more details are expected to come out. This incident has sent shock waves across the community and raised questions regarding the safety protocols and their psychological soundness among students in schools.
