He was in full swing performing big hits like Don’t Look, Chitta, and Koka when one shoe from the audience came flying toward him. The moment was captured and went viral across platforms, with Aujla appearing to be stunned for a while because of the interruption.
Nonetheless, despite the stunning intervention, Aujla maintained his dignity and displayed admirable grace under pressure while performing. Among those condemning the act is the pride of Punjabi music, Jasbir Jassi, who also expressed his opinion on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote: “Throwing shoes during the performance of Karan Aujla in the peak of his career deserves all the condemnation one can provide. Yet this heinous act could be done by no one. Whoever it was must have been acting on a conspiracy to gain negative publicity.” Jassi’s remarks fit the general sentiment raging in the public against such discourteous behavior.
The apparent altercation has seemed to trigger a mad rush, with several of his fans opposing the behavior of the so-called assailant. The supporters of Aujla started raising questions about the security arrangements at the event, fearing that artists would be in danger during live acts. Inquiries have arisen as to whether or not they would exert control over the behavior of crowds and their performers’ safety.
