A maternal grandfather blessed his only daughter with crores, 80 bighas of land, gold, silver, and a vehicle for his only daughter’s children. All previous records have now been broken with this ₹14 crore gift ‘Mayra’ from Rajasthan.
Traditionally, the maternal uncle (mama) of an individual provides extravagant gifts for the wedding of that maternal uncle’s sister’s kids. This tradition becomes ‘Mayra’, and in bringing the new records, Rajasthan is raising its level in this matter. Recently, the Mayra of a teacher and a farmer in Nagaur district became a buzz. And now, once again, Meena and Jat community grand Mayra celebrations have left the people in awe. The latest record-breaking Mayra in Nagaur district belongs to a farmer, as one contributed an enormous ₹14 crore.

Reports state, Farmers Ramlal Phadoda and brother Tulcharam are into farming as well as grain trading here at Bedavadi in Merta town. Ramlal has a daughter named Santosh while Tulcharam has none. Santosh is married into Rajuram Beda of Shekhasani village. This was related to the two marriages of Santosh’s children with which Ramlal-Tulcharam Um-ula visited Shekhasani to fulfill the traditional Mayra duty.
Here is how the record-breaking yet combined effort of the brothers summarized: Mayra totaling ₹13.71 crore. The grand offering comprised:
1.31 crore in cash placed in a ceremonial platter;
6 prime plots in Merta City, valued at over ₹5 crore;
80 bighas of agricultural land worth ₹5 crore;
A Bolero SUV;
5 kg of silver jewelry;
1.60 kg of gold;
A Massey Ferguson tractor;
Clothes worth ₹15 lakh.
Previous Grand Mayra Contributions in Rajasthan
The 80 bighas of land alone in this Mayra are estimated to be worth ₹5 crore. The grandfather was willing to give clothes worth ₹15 lakh apart from gold, silver, and vehicles. Both the bride and groom about whom this historic Mayra was held are pursuing their MBBS and engineering studies.
Earlier, three brothers from Sadokan village of Nagaur added a Mayra worth ₹1.51 crore in cash, accompanied by 25 tolas of gold, 5 kg of silver, and two prime plots in Nagaur city. In Khimsar’s Dhingasara village, the family had previously set the record when one brother made an ₹8 crore Mayra.
Mayra has led into new heights in Rajasthan, but that iconic tradition still symbolizes family love, tradition, and grandeur, with each passing year setting extraordinary examples.
