The veteran playback singer Udit Narayan once more found himself embroiled in controversy after yet another video of him kissing female fans surfaced on the Internet. So soon after a prior clip wherein he had intimate moments with a fan went viral, the second video has now surfaced, showing similar incidents. This has brought a new wave of fresh reactions from users on social networking sites, some criticizing the action, while others have sought to defend the legendary singer.

On Wednesday, in X, formerly Twitter, one user uploads the video from one of the recent concerts of Udit Narayan. He can be seen in a blue dress and giving kisses to female admirers, while in physical terms, the man is surrounded by girls who had queued for selfies with him. “Here is your typical footage where he is seen kissing a lady,” she said in the last of these clips. The woman appears quite unfazed by the gesture as well, as she is literally captured laughing in response.
Nothing new now, people on social media have mixed opinions about the resurfaced video. While one found it funny, another was more disturbed. “He is unstoppable,” is what one had to say. “One man was asking for a selfie and he didn’t care,” commented another, referring to the singer’s seeming ignorance of a male fan’s interest in sharing a selfie. “Kissing selfies is the new trend,” another user joked, while one more noted, “He is going crazy.”
Udit Narayan’s Denial of Controversy
This is not the first time Udit Narayan has incurred the ire of critics due to such stunts. Earlier, another video surfaced with a montage of him kissing some female fans while performing the classic Bollywood number Tip Tip Barsa Paani from Mohra; again it struck like a lightning bolt with vague response from the public.
Confronting the quoted controversy in an interview with HT City, Narayan flatly denied any misbehavior and declared that his fans have always cared more than enough for him. He adds:
“I’ve been around for 46 years in the industry, and there has never been an image of forcing kisses on fans. Most times he sees such things, he actually folds both hands in gratitude sadly when he prays at such moments, never imagining that he might have such moments again.”
Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya also donned the hat of Udit Narayan’s defender by stating in an interview conducted by News18 that Narayan was just poking fun at his fans.
“He’s Udit Narayan! Girls were hectic after him. He has never dragged any girl to get close. I’m sure that during every performance of Udit’s, his wife is there as a co-singer. So enjoy this man’s achievements! He’s a romantic singer, a big khiladi, and I’m an anari. Don’t try to play games with him.”
Although the man now vindt himself being defended by fellow industrymates, netizens are still critiquing him on the issue regarding whether such gestures are befitting a public figure of his stature.
