The real nature of McCommon’s alleged crimes extends far beyond just the single case involving a 12-year-old. Investigators suspect she may have perpetrated against as many as 21 children aged between 12 and 17. Some of these alleged victims taught with her at Charger Academy in Covington, where she taught English Language Arts and Social Studies. Reports indicate she would have called out to some of the victims online, even in the gaming platform Fortnite. During the court proceedings, the mother of one victim gave an emotionally charged statement whereby she remarked on the depth of betrayal she felt and how the damage done to her son was forever lasting. She further endorsed a take of friendship violation on McCommon’s part and one of the stealing of her son’s innocence.

In August 2023, investigations into McCommon’s conduct began after the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services reported some allegations of sexual misconduct between a teacher and a former student. During the investigation, several other juveniles came forward with similar allegations against McCommon, with their descriptions of how she would befriend them, often initiating contact through online gaming or social media platforms. The reports allege that those interactions went beyond and included McCommon sending inappropriate photographs and soliciting sexual relations. Interestingly, police reports also quoted McCommon as threatening one of her victims with repercussions if they reported her to the authorities. Text messages were reportedly exchanged between her and the 12-year-old victim in which she threatened to commit suicide if he ended their relationship. A DNA test later confirmed the paternity of the child.
