An altercation between a local citizen and a cop in Udham Singh Nagar, captured in a video, has gone viral. It is claimed that the cop was drunk. Once the videos were reviewed by SSP Manikant Mishra, swift action was taken to suspend the drunken policeman in question. Apparently, this incident occurred in the Transit Camp police station area. As per the official accounts, Head Constable Harveer Singh was posted to the police line but had been absent for several days. On 14 February afternoon, the incident on Ataria Road was said to have involved his drunken snatching of a phone from somebody. The victim of this snatching immediately informed BJP leader Radhesh Sharma, who thereupon rushed to the spot with his support.

SSP Manikant Mishra confirmed there was a confrontational incident on February 14 involving Head Constable Harveer Singh and former BJP councilor Radhesh Sharma. He explained that Harveer Singh was intoxicated at the time of the incident and was suspended immediately. A case has also been registered against Radhesh Sharma and others involved in the scuffle, who were arrested. The investigation into the matter, which is in the jurisdiction of the Transit Camp police station, is ongoing.
