Within this action, the City Police of Bengaluru was moved to issue an official statement clarifying the reason of the action against them. According to a senior police officer, the main point of concern was safety of public and crowd control.

Ed Sheeran’s Tour Continues Despite Setback
The Mathematics Tour goes on with thousands of admirers from around India attending Ed Sheeran’s performance here at NICE Grounds in Madavara on February 8 and 9, 2025 all despite a small glitch.
Of course, before arriving in Bengaluru, Sheeran also had an incredible show at YMCA Grounds in Chennai on February 5 when he shared the stage with Indian legend A R Rahman. They wowed the crowd by performing an amazing concoction of Rahman’s greatest song-from-its-win: Urvashi Urvashi with Ed sheeran’s Shape of You.
Public Reactions: Should Spontaneous Performances Be Allowed?
The lack of spontaneous public sharing has only just set off the latest round of debate about creative freedom inside public spaces in India, as some authorities keep mentioning the need for rules to enforce law and order. Others, though, feel that unplanned concerts lend their cities a certain cultural vibrancy and bring people a kind of experience that can only ever happen once in a lifetime.
Therefore, there have been calls from lovers of music and urban artists to ease the rules regarding permission for street performance installations, especially those involving Works of artists like Ed Sheeran.
The incident serves as a reminder to Sheeran as he continues his tour-the delicate balancing act between keeping the public safe and the passion of the creative artist. It raises an important debate on what India should do to support spontaneous art without compromising regulations.
